At Oxygen Finance, our dedication to community impact intertwines seamlessly with our core business values. Throughout the year, we organise volunteer days for our employees, recognising the impact our people can make, not just on our doorstep but also in the surrounding community.
Last week our team continued to make a difference with two different charity initiatives.
Spreading Holiday Cheer at Brushstrokes
On Monday, eight enthusiastic individuals from Oxygen eagerly volunteered for the second consecutive year, devoting their time to wrap donated Christmas gifts for refugee children in Birmingham at Brushstrokes, a local charity. Parice, Alistdair, Ivana, Achilleas, Hannah, Absar, Jenna, and Sasha from Oxygen devoted their day to spreading holiday cheer among those served by Brushstrokes.
Brushstrokes, an organization dedicated to upholding the rights and dignities of Smethwick’s residents, particularly focuses on aiding asylum seekers, refugees, and newcomers settling in Sandwell, the wider West Midlands, and beyond.
Reflecting on her experience, one of our dedicated volunteers, Business Administration Apprentice Parice Smith, expressed her enthusiasm: “It was a wonderful experience working alongside colleagues from different departments, wrapping presents for children in our local community. Although there was a lot of donations, we managed to wrap up everything by the end of the day. It felt rewarding to give back, and I definitely look forward to participating again next year, given the chance.”
Supporting SIFA Fireside
Additionally, Oxygen hosted a Christmas collection for another local charity, SIFA Fireside. This organisation provides crucial support for individuals recovering from homelessness. Their services, such as the Adult Support Hub, Tenancy Support Services, and a Drop-in Centre, exist to help individuals rebuild their lives with safety and dignity.
Last Thursday, a small team representing Oxygen’s Social Value Committee – Andy, Abhinav, John, and Stephen – delivered our donations to SIFA Fireside. Contributions included clothing, food and toiletries – not least 360 shaving razors!
Brushstrokes’ remarkable efforts and SIFA Fireside’s dedication truly mirror our commitment to making a positive social impact. Over the past year, Oxygen Finance has actively supported various projects and charities, including Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Gateshead Warm Spaces, Bury Foundation FC, Our Derbyshire Awards, St Luke’s Hospice, and of course, Brushstrokes and SIFA Fireside.
